Abstract
The essential oil (average yield 4%) isolated by hydrodistillation from semi‐dried leaves of Ocimum keniense Ayobangira was analysed by GC and GC‐MS. A total of 22 compounds accounting for 86.8% were identified. 1,8‐Cineole (38%) and methyl chavicol (24%) were the major constituents. Other significant constituents were chavicol and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons. Copyright © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
