Abstract
The basic difference existing in the oviposition behaviour, the 1st larval instar movement and the preference for feeding of older larval instars of Chilo partellus, Busseola fusca, Sesamia calamistris and Eldana saccharina have determined the methodology and the success of resistance screening and breeding of maize to stem borers. Various mechanisms involving oviposition and larval feeding behaviour of Chilo were identified in resistant maize and sorghum lines. -from Author
