Abstract

Morphological characters are described and illustrated to permit identification of the females of five species of Atherigona (A. soccata Rondani, A. conigera van Emden, A. trapezia van Emden, A. laevigata (Loew) and A. (Acritochaetal orientalis Schiner).The importance of being able to identify females of various species of Atherigona in ecological studies is discussed. © 1981 Taylor and Francis Ltd.
