Abstract

WHEN strongly disturbed, the red-legged millipede Metiche tanganyicense Kraus (Spirobolida: Trigoniulidae) sprays attackers with a mixture of four quinones (Fig. 1). Ubiquinone-O, a major component of this defensive spray has not been isolated previously from a natural source. © 1975 Nature Publishing Group.
