Abstract
This chapter delves into the dynamic patterns governing variations in cadmium (Cd) levels within the environment. Cd, a toxic heavy metal, exhibits complex behavior influenced by diverse factors, such as industrial activities, agricultural practices, and natural processes. We systematically explored the dynamics of Cd, addressing its effects and mechanism of toxicity on human, animal, and plant health; sources and distribution; potential environmental impacts; and control. Synthesizing findings from a range of studies, this chapter elucidates the mechanisms driving cadmium fluxes in air, water, soil, and biota. Furthermore, it discusses the implications of these dynamics on ecosystems and human health. A comprehensive understanding of the intricate interplay of factors affecting Cd levels is essential for formulating effective environmental management strategies and mitigating the risks associated with Cd exposure.
