Abstract

Climate change significantly impacts natural resources and human life, making the assessment of these effects crucial. Geospatial techniques are vital for understanding and mitigating climate change impacts. This chapter explores the critical role of geospatial technology (GTs) and modeling in assessing and predicting climate change impacts. It highlights how tools such as geographic information systems, remote sensing, and spatial analysis are essential for visualizing and understanding the complex dynamics of climate change. By integrating predictive modeling with these technologies, researchers can forecast future climate scenarios and evaluate their potential effects on ecosystems, biodiversity, Sea Level Rise and Coastal Vulnerability, and human populations. The chapter outlines various methodologies and applications of GTs in climate research, focusing on temperature patterns, sea-level changes, and extreme weather events. It also addresses challenges such as managing extensive data sets, ensuring model accuracy, and the need for interdisciplinary approaches. Through case studies, successful applications of GTs in predicting and mitigating climate change impacts are demonstrated, emphasizing the importance of informed policy and planning decisions for setting up adaptation and mitigation strategies related to assess and predict climate change impacts. Finally, it concludes by sightseeing the future of GTs in climate change research, particularly the integration of advanced data analytics, machine learning, and enhanced computational power to improve predictive capabilities. Overall, the findings underscore the necessity of robust geospatial tools in developing effective adaptation strategies and enhancing resilience against climate-related challenges.
